Whether its a bubblemakers course for the kids, a refresher course, Open Water Diver or Advanced Open Water or Cave and Cavern courses, the Original Akumal Dive Shop will be glad to have you and your family as our students. In the Akumal area we have many beautiful underwater marvels . Most of our reefs are located less than 5 minutes by boat from our dive shop. In addition to our ocean dive sites, we have access to several world famous “cenotes” (underground rivers) with spectacular caves and caverns that are very safe to dive in with our specially trained guides. Every day we have three ocean dives at 9:30, 11:30 and 2:30 and cenote dives can also be arranged daily. At the end of every dive we come back to the dive shop to spend our surface intervals on shore.

We have a large fleet of dive and fishing boats as well as many certified dive master and instructors who will assist you and enjoy guiding your dives. We only take a maximum of 8 divers per dive master. Our Mission and main goal, is to provide personal service. We are happy to arrange private boats and specialized dive times if you desire them.
Meaning shark caves in Spanish, this site is named for the intriguing reef overhangs that have made a popular sleeping spot for nurse sharks. Under these structures you can also find familiar fish that have made it a permanent residence. With a maximun depth to 30 feet.
This 60-90 ft. dive site, located about 15 minutes north, is a very special dive. Reef fingers reach up to 30 feet from the sea floor. Turtles, nurse sharks, rays, and a bright spectrum of fish are common sites here. Ask our Divemasters to take you there.
60-80 ft. Only a 4 minute boat ride directly in front of the Dive Shop, this site is decorated by large, vivid reef fingers. You are guaranted to see Hawksbill, Green, and Loggerhead turtles here feeding, playing, and checking out the visiting divers.
