Fun island Resort, MALDIVES
Fun Island Resort is situated in the South Male Atoll, a one hour speedboat trip from Hulule Airport (Male). Fun Island Resort and Delphis Diving Centers have been successfully operating on this island since 1986. Fun Island was a pioneering resort in the Maldives, providing facilities and setting the standards for those resorts opening later. It became an island that did not require much of advertisement because of the high number of "repeaters" returning. The island is an ideal location for reaching the best dive spots in the South Male Atoll. The success story of Fun Island and Delphis Diving Centers Fun ended abruptly on the 26th of December 2004 with the coming of the Tsunami. Although nobody was hurt that day, the property was damaged and Villa Hotels decided that this was the time to give the resort a facelift. Reconstruction is now taking place to make Fun Island suitable for today’s standards. Villa Hotels is planning to re-open the resort in 2007. As soon as more information is available, we will post it on this page. If you have been diving with Delphis Diving Centers at Fun Island, you might like to try our Centers on Paradise or Royal Islands. Many staff members from Fun Island are presently working at these Centers.
